A Relationship Without Props

A Relationship Without Props.

From a format IHOPper.   Her thoughts on whether or not going to IHOP is a wise thing to do.  Short but sweet.

No ‘Catchers’ – Would We Still See “Slain In the Spirit”?

No ‘Catchers’.

If this would only “occur” to other pastors, (or just plain old ‘others’), within the body..

This Indiana pastor’s church got caught up in all the false hoopla with Todd Bentley’s “signs and wonders”, but God shook them out of their dilutions.

WHAT would happen at other churches if there were no more able bodied men standing right behind the people about to be prayed for in the prayer lines?  Meditate on that thought for just a moment…

(No pun intended)

Breath Prayers

I listened to an associate pastor at church past Sunday as our regular pastor was away out of town.  About two minutes into his message, I heard him say, “breath prayers”, and I suddenly felt a very choking, dark presence almost making me vomit.  Then I heard myself praying for those in the auditorium. I heard myself asking the Holy Spirit to place a guard around their hearts.

The atmosphere became even worse as the speaker began giving instructions as to “how to enter in” via slowed breathing, and using verbalized repetition of a scripture, bible word or thought “about God” (mantra).  Then he said, “Let’s ALL begin this now.” Suddenly the lights were lowered, the speaker left the stage.

About three or four minutes of dead silence followed.

“I” wanted to stand up and say something – anything!  But the Holy Spirit held me in my seat, having me, instead, PRAY for all the people in that place – asking God’s protection to be placed in and around them.

Then the service was over. (Let me note here that my spouse was doing the same thing I was.)

Immediately following service we got with this associate pastor. After finding an empty room we told him the truth about what he had just preached on.  We told him all about contemplative prayer and its eastern origin – of it actually being TM.  Then I told him,” I noticed you didn’t use any scriptures to back up your breath prayers.”  He admitted there were none, but still insisted breath prayers were godly ways of speaking to God.  It was at this point that he began to stand up… i.e. the meeting was over.

My spouse and I have not yet joined this church.  (Think that may not be a coincidence?)

Jesus taught his disciples to pray beginning with, “Our Father in heaven”.  This is completely opposite from transcendental meditation (TM). TM, however, does begin with a focus on controlled breathing.

Many people despise God because He has not made them the master of their fate, the captain of their soul or rulers of their own destiny.  Breath prayers, contemplative prayer, TM (ALL the same thing), do however, give that feeling of being in total control.

The disciples were instructed to pray, “Deliver us from evil”.  Breath prayers don’t require that at all.  Shouldn’t that be a red flag to believers? Let’s face it. We seldom want to be delivered from temptation. It promises too much fun! That right there should be the perfect explanation for why Christians are falling into the trap of breath prayers, contemplative prayers, centering prayers etc.  All it is is Christianized transcendental meditation. It FEELS so good.

Christianity is being conned into believing a lie. Pray that fellow believers in Christ will not believe this lie. Pray that they will not be deceived like the person I listened to last Sunday. God forgive him.

Amen.

This was written because…

I appeal to you brothers to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine you have been taught; avoid them. Romans 16:17

So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth you shall give them a warning from me. Ezekiel 33:7

So many people have written into this and other blogs just like it saying that the blog authors are not walking in love. Nothing could be further from the truth. The entire purpose of this and other blogs is to warn people of the deception in the New Age teachings. Teachings which are being cloaked in the name of Christianity. Teachings which been making their way into the body of Christ.

Let me use a particular well known author right now.

(For the sake of this post, I’ll let her remain nameless.)

This person puts out inspiring books – singing the praises of the Lord and admonishing others to follow Him. That is truly a marvelous thing. But then this same author writes that she agrees with certain New Age teachings, admonishing readers to follow contemplative prayer which is nothing but transcendental meditation. (I used to think that only brand-new believers in Christ would fall into the trap of swallowing this, but have recently found this not to be so.) Rather, I have found that even clergy/ministers of the gospel are shrugging their shoulders, saying it can’t be THAT bad since this person has always been well-versed in scripture and MUST know what they’re talking about.

Thus, the enemy gets a foot in the door and sadly, it wasn’t a case of him sneaking in. No, no. He came in by way of a Welcome mat.

So what DOES God’s word tell us about deception and the body of Christ?

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. 1 Timothy 4:1,2

The Bible tells us that there will be great to deception to enter into the body. Never forget that seducing spirits mix their teachings with a person’s own reasoning. The way to deceive a person is through the mind. The seducing spirits deceive by reasoning – reasoning with not enough information and a wrong intention.  This seducing spirit has achieved its goal by putting a lie in the mind by false reasonsing.

Teachers can be used to deceive many. The error comes in when you believe the teacher OVER the truth of Scripture. Never forget the good men can be deceived and seducing spirits USE good men to transmit their lies under the guise of truth.

All truth comes from God and all lies come from Satan.

All thoughts and beliefs belong in one of two realms: the realm of truth with or the realm of falsehood i.e. error.

Seducing spirits are at work outside AND inside of the body of Christ. All they want to do is to deceive and ruin people. They are working day and night to deceive the body of Christ.

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 2 Tim 3:13

The purpose of this blog, and others like it, is to warn believers about the trap that they may be falling into.

Have I contacted these false teachers? Yes.

Did they respond? No.

So what now?  Now I warn others to avoid the trap. I write this blog not out of hatred, but rather, out of love. Love for Jesus, love for the Truth.

I have found humor in the fact that some angry people, when they write in, say, “Blessings!”, at the end of their somewhat angry posts – thinking that they heap coals of fire upon my head!  From the depths of my being, if you read this blog, I truly hope that you WILL be blessed in what you read. I do not aim to please others, but rather aim to please Him.

I pray that as you read this, that God will remove the spiritual scales from your eyes, and that you’d be able to more clearly see His truths, His desires for us to walk in them, and would feel a desire to share these truths with others.
