Not just IHOP goes contemplative..

From Lighthouse Trails:

Shortly after we sent out our January 15th Lighthouse Trails E-newsletter, we discovered that a link we provided to an article about Moody Bible Institute was no longer working. We learned that the website called The Broken Twig (which we believe was created by some Moody alumni) had been taken down sometime in the last few days.

The name of the article we were linking to was “Moody’s Enrollment Plummets Due to Leadership’s Moral Failings and Liberal Leanings.”

After learning about the removed website, we sent a message and made a phone call to the Moody Bible Institute Alumni Association to see if we could gain some insight as to why the site was removed, but we have not yet been able to talk to anyone from that office (we do not know whether that association was involved with The Broken Twig site or not). In the meantime, we found this Facebook message on The Broken Twig Facebook page (which as of this morning is still up):

Their ]The Broken Twig] last post indicated that since alumni, donors, etc have been brought up to speed this site has completed it’s objective and we, as a collective group, all carry the mission and responsibility to pray for Moody and bring accountability to the concerns brought out into the light.

We find it troubling to think that MBI leaders (and alumni and donors) may think their problems have been brought into the light simply by posting a few articles and getting rid of the president (who actually resigned days ago) when in fact, they have only scratched the surface of the problems. Moody has numerous faculty, textbooks, students, and staff who are embracing a contemplative/emergent theology, and MBI leaders have always come across like they don’t even know what that theology is (and deny that they promote it).

Moody Bible Institute is not the only Christian school that is sinking under the weight of spiritual deception. We are sure there are many factors, but the one that stands out the most to us is clearly written in the Bible:

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. (1 Timothy 4:1)

Make no mistake about it, contemplative spirituality (aka: Spiritual Formation) is a doctrine of devils and is deceiving many within Christianity today and causing the church at large to lose sight of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sadly, North American Christian colleges, seminaries, and universities are helping to lead the way into this apostasy as they pump out contemplative/emergent-taught new pastors and leaders who find their way to North American pulpits and ministries and eventually into our homes.

Lighthouse Trails has been 100% right on the money for the last 15+ years at least. I highly recommend them. Have any questions? Just ask.

I have seen too many believers in Christ falling into the trap of practicing "Christianized New Age" and still calling it holy. Contemplative prayer is nothing more ( or less) than TM. Totally unscriptural. I encourage anyone who's interested in knowing the truth of God's word to dig in daily and SEARCH - be like the Bereans - FIND OUT if the teachings, messages, books you've read or radio speakers you've heard are dissecting God's word correctly. If they're not, throw out what you've heard. Trash it. God demands we STUDY to show ourselves approved. BE a Berean. Acts 17: 10-11
